  11. Win$ 1.3 for a period of up to 30 days. After that time, you are required

  28. INSTALLING Win$ 1.3:
  29. --------------------
  30. Win$ 1.3 is supplied ready-to-use on a diskette. If you are not 
  31. going to install it on a hard disk, you can start working with Win$
  32. right now.

  34. To start Win$ from a diskette:
  35. ------------------------------

  37. 1)    If not already running Microsoft Windows, start Windows.
  38.  
  39. 2)    Place the Win$ diskette into a floppy drive A or B.
  40.  
  41. 3)    Select the File | Run menu option of the Program Manager
  42.     or File Manager, and type into the dialog box:
  43.         A:Win$    [ or B:Win$ ]
  44.     and press Enter (or click OK button).
  45.  
  46.        You can also double-click the name win$.exe in a list of 
  47.     files of the File Manager when displaying the contents
  48.     of the corresponding floppy disk.
  49.  
  50. To install Win$ on a hard drive:
  51. --------------------------------
  52. 1)    If not already running Microsoft Windows, start Windows.
  53.  
  54. 2)     Place the Win$ diskette into a floppy drive A or B.
  55.  
  56. 3)    Select the File|Run menu option of the Program Manager
  57.     or File Manager, and type into the dialog box:
  58.         A:install    [ or B:install ]
  59.     and press Enter (or click OK button).
  60.  
  61. 4)     The installation program will prompt you for any additional
  62.        information needed.
  63.  
  64. 5)    The installation program will copy all the neccessary files
  65.     to a specified directory on your hard disk and create 
  66.     the program group 'Win$1.3'. To start Win$ installed in 
  67.     this way, you will need to double-click the icon of the
  68.     program.

  70. If the automatic installation fails by any reason,
  71. you can install Win$ manually:
  72. ------------------------------
  73. 1)    Create a directory on your hard disk for Win$.
  74.  
  75. 2)    Copy the following files from the diskette into that directory:
  76.  
  77.         win$.exe
  78.         win$.hlp
  79.  
  80. 3)    Copy the file ctl3d.dll from the diskette into the SYSTEM 
  81.     directory of Windows (usually it is C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM).
  82.     See also the note about ctl3d.dll below.

  84. Note about using ctl3d.dll library.
  85. ----------------------------------
  86. The file ctl3d.dll is not neccesary for running Win$.exe. When started, 
  87. Win$ searches for this file in its sturtup directory, in the SYSTEM
  88. directory, and in the WINDOWS directory, in this order. If Win$ finds 
  89. this file, it uses it. Otherwize, Win$ works without the use of ctl3d.dll.

  91. Unavalability of ctl3d.dll does not influence the performance of the Win$
  92. software. ctl3d.dll is used only when forming the appearance of the 
  93. program on the screen.

  104. Take a look at menu Options from the System Menu of the Win$ program
  105. (to open the System Menu just press and release Alt key when Win$ 
  106. window is active, and then press Enter OR click the box in the upper-left
  107. corner of the Win$ window)

  109. 1)    Always-On-Top option allows Win$ to remain on top of other 
  110.     Windows applications. It won't be necessary to move other 
  111.     windows around in order to find the calculator on your desktop.

  113. 2)    Fixed-decimal option allows you to see only two decimal digits
  114.     when displaying the results of financial calculations.
  115.  
  116. 3)    Allow Multiple Solutions option allows you to examine financial
  117.     problems that have more than one possible solution.
  118.  
  119. 4)    Register is Clipboard option allows you to exchange the information
  120.     between Win$ and other applications with simple, single-button 
  121.     operations.
